Learning to speak spanish is a long term endeavour that once you start doing you will NEVER want to stop doing !! :)
Well, in this hectic World of ours today we realize that budgeting your time is very, very important. So learning to talk about time in spanish is something we will go over briefly today. Its pretty straightforward and pretty easy.
'¿Que hora es?' this means ' What time is it? '
'Es muy temprano' this means 'It's very early '
'Son las diez y media' translates to 'It is 10:30'
'Es la una' in Spanish means 'It is 1 o'clock'
'Es la una y media' means 'It is half-past one'.
'Es la una y cuarto de la manana' / 'It is 1:15'. It is important to take note that in learning to speak spanish you would in actuality say, it is quarter after one.
How about Morning or Afternoon?
Now in order avoid any confusion here between mornings and afternoons just take a look at the following sentences. You can compare them to the sentences above to see if you can figure out what is happening.
'El llega a diez y media de la manana' means 'He arrives at 10:30 in the morning'
'de la manana' translates 'In the morning'
How about 'Ella llega a las dos y tres cuartos de la tarde'. Can you try to figure out what this sentence means?
And finally what about 'Nosotros llegamos a las tres menos cinco minutos de la noche'. What can you figure out about this ??

Even our President Elect Obama says we should ALL learn to speak spanish or another 2nd language !
(Filed under how to speak spanish, learn spanish online, learn to speak spanish )
Back earlier this year Barack Obama confessed at a rally in Dayton,OH. that he was embarrassed that he could not speak a foreign language. And a anti-illegal Immigration group blasted Obama for saying on a number of occasions that Americans should learn to speak spanish !
You know what I say ?? Its about dang time someone with some sense come out and tell it like it is. I have said this for many many years now that it is almost a necessity for Americans to learn how to speak spanish as well as English !!
There are literally millions and millions in our Country that only know how to speak spanish !!
Obama goes on to say that even though he will be criticized for his views that it is best for our children to become equipped with the knowledge of a second language like spanish !
Its a fact that the younger a child is exposed to a language like spanish the easier it is to grasp it and become bilingual. If a child becomes bilingual by learning how to speak spanish it will open up so many doors down the road you will be amazed.
Consider it a HUGE step in making your child a well rounded human being and a great asset to our Society in general.
Plus, the rewards later in his life as adult will be great because of the many careers that Pay very handsomely for bilingual employees.
Its a win-win situation.
Just listen to Obama !! :)

Adjectives can be confusing at times when you learn to speak spanish
(Filed under learn easy spanish, learn to speak spanish )
Adjectives and Gender
Adjectives are words that describe nouns. In Spanish, adjectives also change depending on what in particular you are talking about. ust have a peek at the following examples to see exactly what I am talking about.
El muchacho largo / The tall boy
Note the use of El, when talking about a male? Also note how largo ends in an o.
La muchacha larga / The tall girl
Here, make note that "La" is used instead of "El". This is because the sentence is about a female, which is a feminine thing. You should also note that largo has changed into larga.
Las pantolones azul / The blue pants
Los libros azul / The blue books
I know that all this at times can seem somewhat overwhelming. And it can be confusing at first. Lets be honest when you learn to speak spanish at first it can seem to be impossible. But remember through time things will become easier and easier. You just need to put in some effort and time to learn to speak spanish. The key is to just practice, practice, and practice. When you learn to speak spanish realize that nouns have genders ........
(Filed Under learn to speak spanish, learn easy spanish, how to speak spanish)
There is an important issue that should always be addressed when you learn to speak spanish. And that is the use of gender in Spanish. In English, nouns do not have genders. But in Spanish they do. This means that there are a few more articles to learn as compared to in English. A quick rule is if a ends in "a", then it is feminine, but if it ends in "o", then it is masculine.
Learning Spanish Articles
There are two types of different forms of articles. They are called definite and indefinite. Definite articles are words such as "the". If you were to say "the house", you are talking about a particular house, not a house in general. So therefore, indefinite articles refer to general objects. For example "a house".
In Spanish, there happens to be two different words for "a/an". They are Un and una. Which one you use well that depends on the particular gender of the noun. "Un" is used when referring to the Masculine. "Una" is used when referring to the feminine. Right now you do ont need to over stress about what gender a noun is. You will learn later on in other posts.
It is important to note that there are also two words for the word "the". Once again, this just depends on the gender of the noun. Use the word "el" a when referring to masculine nouns. And for feminine nouns, use the word "la". Pretty Simple isn't it?
Let's look at some examples of masculine and feminine nouns.
El perro esta aqui / The (male) cat is here
However, if you want to say "The (female) dog is here", you would say something a little different.
La perra esta aqui / The (female) cat is here
Also Plural forms in Spanish are a little different than in the English language. When talking about more than one thing, the definite article changes to:
Las (female), Los (male).
Lets see how the above sentences change when talking about more than one dog.
Los perros estan aqui / The (male) dogs are here
Las perras estan aqui / The (female) dogs are here

Learn to Speak Spanish with easy Pronounciation.......
(Filed under learn to speak spanish, how to speak spanish, learn easy spanish )
If you have ever been in a position to talk to someone learning to speak English as a second language you will understand and appreciate how important it is in learning and practicing the correct pronunciation. And I am sure everyone at some time in their Life has spoken to someone learning English who really has a bad accent. The thing is they may have had a good firm hold of the language itself, but what good is that if the people you want to speak to cannot really comprehend you or understand you? So trust me when I say that getting down the pronunciation is a very very important skill to learn from day one !!
Fortunately for everyone involved , Spanish is pretty much an easy language to pronounce. It is what they call phonetic. This means it sounds exactly like it looks. There are no silent letters like in English and other languages, so consider yourself very fortunate! Here is a little trick to help you with your accent when learning how to speak spanish . You need to actually pretend to put on a Spanish accent. If you've ever pretended to be Zorro, or Speedy Gonzalez, you know exactly what I'm talking about. It seems a little silly at first but trust me it's amazing how much your accent can improve using this little trick.
